Renteria Garcia Family
Project Location: Gabriel Rodriguez
Hello! My name is Monserrat, I found out about Esperanza because two of my sisters were participants in the program. One of them built her home three years ago and I lived with her through the entire process, and that's how I became excited and encouraged my husband to enter the program.
I entered the program in March 2022 and in April 2023 we were already making blocks with the help of my colleagues in the group. In the month of May, we began construction on the home with the help of volunteers, who came from the USA. For me and my husband it was a very beautiful experience, and I don't deny it, it was also a little difficult and a little stressful, because we were renting and we had to leave and come to our land and live in a trailer. But knowing that soon we would have our home, we were more and more excited seeing so many volunteers who came to help us build our home. There were many people who helped us build, they came and helped us as if they had known us for a long time. They are all great people and very down to earth.
For my family and my group, it was a pleasure to have them participate in the construction of my home and our way of saying thank you was by giving some food that everyone loved.
I feel that the challenges I had were a little stressful, but just thinking about my house, seeing it under construction, I felt a very emotional and gratifying expectation for my family, and seeing my children excited about the house, that topped everything. And now having my house already painted, with a nice bathroom is something very beautiful for us, and my family and I are very grateful to Esperanza and to all the volunteers who came to be part of our home.
